Cardiovascular Technology & Clinical Laboratory/Medical Technology Scholarship

If you are pursuing a career in Cardiovascular Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, Memorial Healthcare System’s scholarship program might be able to help. These scholarships were established to financially assist students seeking a degree in these areas.

$8,000 for a 1-year work commitment
$16,000 for a 2-year work commitment

Recipient Requirements
  • 2.5 GPA must be maintained
  • Upon completion of degree, recipient is required to work at a Memorial Healthcare System facility
  • Employment obligation varies depending on scholarship amount
  • Placement may be at any of the Memorial Healthcare System facilities
  • Work schedules are determined by hiring manager at the time of hire
  • Must have Florida state license required for practicing as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Technologist
  • Must have Florida state license required for practicing as a Cardiovascular Technologist

Selection Process

Once a completed Application Packet is received, the Scholarship Coordinator will verify your GPA, references and speak with instructors. You will then be notified if chosen to participate in a personal panel interview. Great emphasis is placed upon the interview with regard to selecting scholarship recipients.

Upon completion of the interview process, all awardees will be notified of the Scholarship Committee’s decision.

Nursing Scholarships

Associate of Science in Nursing Program at Broward College

Candidates who have been formally accepted into an Associate of Science in Nursing Program at this NLN-accredited Florida College and have completed the first term of their nursing program are eligible.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

Eligible candidates who have been formally accepted into a BSN Program at a nationally accredited college or university with a NCLEX pass rate of 85% or higher and are currently attending or have completed the first term of a nursing program are eligible.

FAQs

How can scholarship funds be used?
If awarded, scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees and required textbooks. Tuition reimbursement may be possible for those who have recently completed their BSN degree.

What’s next?

How will I know if I’m selected?

Application Requirements
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student currently attending or have completed the first term of either an Associate of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at an accredited Florida college or university
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from recent supervisor and teachers.
  • One (1) copy of an official transcript

February 1, May 1 and October 1

Recipient Requirements
  • Predetermined GPA must be maintained
  • Upon completion of degree, recipient is required to work at a Memorial Healthcare System facility
  • Employment obligation varies depending on scholarship: Associate of Science degree students receive $8,000 for a 2-year work commitment
  • Bachelor of Science degree students receive $8,000 for a 1-year work commitment
  • Bachelor of Science degree students receive $16,000 for a 2-year work commitment
  • Job placement may be at any of the Memorial Healthcare System facilities
  • Work schedules are determined by hiring manager at the time of hire
  • Must obtain a Florida state license required for practicing as a Registered Nurse prior to hire date

Community Scholarships

Memorial Healthcare System’s Community Scholarships are offered in partnership with several area non-profit organizations. They allow individuals residing full-time within the South Broward Hospital District boundaries to attend college.

NOTE: You must reside within South Broward Hospital District boundaries to qualify for the Memorial Healthcare System Community Scholarship Program. Please apply directly with the organization.

Employee Dependent Scholarship Program

The Employee Dependent Scholarship is in partnership with Broward College and is offered to children and legal dependents of the Memorial Healthcare System Employees. These one- time scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500 for healthcare majors and $1,500 for non-healthcare majors. Up to 10 Scholarships per year will be awarded.

Eligibility Requirements
  • The Scholarship applicant must be the dependent or legal child under the age of 25 of a Memorial Healthcare System employee.
  • The parent or legal guardian of the applicant must be a regularly scheduled, full- or part-time employee in good standing, with two years of continuous service as of the date of the application deadline.
  • The student must be enrolled or accepted into Broward College for fall of the year of the application.
  • Students with 2.5 GPA or higher

  • Students must submit a completed application, including an essay, two letters of recommendation, high school/college transcripts and a letter of acceptance from Broward College.
  • All applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the Scholarship Committee.
